The following guidelines are recommended to ensure that online experience is mutually beneficial – i.e., between retreatant and Guide:
Technical Setup
- When using a mobile phone or ipad, it is advised that you put it on a stable stand, raise the camera to eye level. Avoid unnecessary shifting of your device, the movement of the camera may distract your listener.
- Be mindful of using appropriate / sufficient lighting as visible cues are crucial to both parties, next to audio. It is best to use a headset with built-in microphone.
- Look for a “safe & quiet space” where you may feel free to express yourself without restrictions and distractions during the online visit.
- There will be times when the internet will fail us. Most often than not it will lag, sometimes it will freeze while you or the Guide are in mid-sentence, so it is advisable that you speak slowly, and pause every now and then, to make sure that your Guide picked up what you communicated. This can be a test of patience! 😉
Disposition
The retreat direction or spiritual direction session is sacred time and sacred space. We forego the usual set up of traveling to the Cenacle for retreat or spiritual direction, but the time between you and your Guide remains a spiritual experience for you both. Maintain a disposition of openness and reverence for this time. Thus you will need to prepare yourself beforehand and what you will share with your Guide. You will also need to be mindful of the time limit (usually one hour) of this sacred experience.
Support our ministry
The recommended stipend rate to the Retreat Guide is suggested between Php600-2000/session. Your generosity will help in the support of our staff employment, livelihood of Sisters and maintenance of our house.
