Novena Day 4
Finding God in All Things
Saint Ignatius of Loyola reminds us to pay attention to God’s invitation to encounter Him in each moment of our lives; to live a life attuned to God’s movements in our day to day. In this pandemic, it is quite challenging to be attentive to this but perhaps we are called to focus even in the little miracles each that we got ‘used to’ already even before the pandemic struck – a beautiful sunrise, the scent and taste of our food, the chirping birds, a surprise call or a random message from someone.
We heard of a story of one American who was found standing outside the hospital for 10 days holding a sign with “I love you” to support and root for her wife who was suffering in ICU because of Covid-19. They both overcame the ordeal by the very experience of allowing the “happy fault” to transform them forever. [Link to story here]
How do you deal with the struggles brought by the pandemic, of those you love and your own? Do you bounce back by seeing and helping others see God’s glaring presence and goodness amid the struggles?
For today’s novena theme, Saint Thérèse invites us to notice and to pay attention to God’s imprint in all our experiences and so celebrate and be grateful for the many small wins and wonders in the events of our life. May we be deeply rooted in our growing awareness that God can be found in every one and in all things.
